Timber Frame RENDER TO TIMBER FRAME
It is not essential but NHBC recommended a ventilated cavity behind any cladding system applied to timber frame construction. Traditional methods using Expanded Metal Lath (EML) with a sand and cement render finish saw a mix of three materials (timber / metal / masonry) which expand and contract differently causing the render to crack. So a Render and Board system becomes a great solution.

Render Board: Gypsotech Externa Light Lightweight fibreglass-reinforced cement board (compliant with EN 12467) designed to be both on the inside and outside of the building.

Base Coat: A 96 is a dry premixed adhesive composed of white Portland cement, synthetic fibres, selected limestone
sands and specific additives to improve workability and adhesion.

Reinforcing Mesh: Fassanet160

Primer: FX 526 Pigmented primer undercoat

Top Coat; Silicone and acrylic top coat in various grain size and choice of colours.
